Alessia Cara
The single came out in the year 2015, just as she was turning 19. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and fans. The song peaked at number 19 at both Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the best songs of the year. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special because it was based on an interview with Rap-Up many listeners related to her journey of doubting herself and learning how to love herself. Cara integrates messages about kindness and loving yourself into her music. All of Cara's music stems directly from her struggle with mental illness, insomnia and other health issues. Interview with Reuters she said that her album was "half tumultuous" and "half perfect". Therapy helped her grow and she encourages others to seek help if necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her first guitar was purchased from her parents at the time she turned 10 which ignited her musical passion. She started covering the songs she loved at 13 to prove to that world that she could sing and had the confidence required to become an artist. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather was able to get her noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create her songs.
