She's reported on sports at many of the top media outlets across the world. Her time working at The Washington Post was spent with several Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis, football and basketball. Nichols started a nine-year period with ESPN which saw her win the two Emmy Awards, and featured on a number of the network's best shows like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter.
